Get the Most Out of Your Chiropractic Care
Why do some people get sick?
All children learn in school that Thomas Edison invented the light bulb. However, few know who discovered chiropractic. But the most fascinating thing is why chiropractic was discovered.
If we go back more than a hundred years, to a time when «patent medicines» were flourishing, these were often marketed as cures whose active ingredients were typically alcohol, cocaine, arsenic, and many other dangerous substances.
Meanwhile, a healer (one who heals with his hands), experimenter, and free thinker named Daniel David Palmer in Davenport, Iowa, asked himself a simple question:
«I want to know why, out of two people who eat at the same table and work at the same store, one is sick but the other isn't. Why?"
What was the difference between the two people that caused one to develop pneumonia, a cold, typhoid fever, or rheumatism, while his companion, in a similar situation, had avoided those conditions? Why? «At a time when germs were blamed for almost all illnesses, that way of thinking was very innovative in the field of health. Germs alone could not be the cause of diseases; otherwise, everyone would be sick.”.
Chiropractic came into existence shortly thereafter. D.D. Palmer discovered that it makes more sense to look at the person with the illness, rather than the illness within the person. A revolutionary idea for people back then! — and it’s still revolutionary today!
The Causes of Subluxations
Sometimes, a bad day at the office is all it takes to disrupt your nervous system.
Your spine not only helps you stand upright, but it must also allow you to move while facilitating vital nerve signals between your brain and your body. The spinal cord and nerve roots are the most vulnerable part of your nervous system. That’s why we’re so interested in your spine. If your spine isn’t functioning properly, your nervous system probably isn’t either—even if you feel great and don’t have any outwardly visible symptoms!
There are many causes of vertebral subluxations, which fall into three broad categories. Here are some of the most common causes our patients have mentioned:
Physicist
To Be Born
Learning to Walk
Rake the leaves
Hauling dirt
Get into your car
Putting his wallet in his pants pocket
Uncomfortable Hotel Beds
Contact sports
high-heeled shoes
Sweep the garage or the house
Car Accidents
A bad pillow
Mental
Receiving Bad News
Deadlines
Stress
Feeling pressured
Job Interview
Frustration
Holidays
Pay the bills
Being Late
His mother-in-law
Funerals
A speeding ticket
Or any other situation that causes you stress
Chemist
Drugs
Muscle relaxants
Alcohol
Pain relievers
Cigarette smoke
Paint fumes or other chemicals
Sleeping pills
Preservatives
Allergic Reactions
Too much coffee
Anesthesia
One or more of these factors could be causing the headaches and neck pain you've been experiencing for months! A car accident or sports injury are the obvious causes of subluxations, but sometimes all it takes is a bad day at work.
Pain isn't the problem
Many people begin chiropractic care because of pain or discomfort.
Pain can be distracting, debilitating, irritating, or bothersome.
Pain can be chronic, acute, severe, or intermittent.
The pain can be sharp or dull, and it can be localized or generalized.
Pain may be a pain, but pain isn't the problem!
Pain is a symptom, a signal, a sign, an indicator, a warning.
Pain isn't a problem—it's a warning, just like a traffic light or your alarm clock shaking you to wake you up.
Although we tend to view pain as a problem, when we meet with patients in our office who are in pain, our first thought is that they must have exceeded a physical, chemical, or emotional limit to which they can no longer adapt.
Therefore, we will not focus on the pain itself, but rather on what caused it: whether it just happened, whether it has been present for a long time, and under what circumstances it appeared.
Also, what change(s) should you start making to prevent this from happening in the future? Do you know anyone who thinks pain is a problem? Please refer them to our clinic. Because for us, pain is never a problem!
Keep your appointment
Keep your appointments to get the best results in the shortest amount of time.

Your care plan is designed to produce the best results in the shortest possible time.
A middle ground
The most important part of your care is your chiropractic adjustments. Each visit builds on the previous ones, so missing an appointment can hinder the results you’re hoping to achieve.
If you don't get adjustments regularly, you won't have enough «momentum» to correct negative patterns in your spine. Your treatment schedule is personalized and tailored to your specific health situation. Our goal is to achieve the most effective healing results. Not too often, but not too far apart either.
To throw in the towel
It's especially important to stay consistent as you begin to feel better. You may be tempted to give up and stop your treatment sooner than recommended—but know that stopping your treatment just as the most significant changes are taking place will have the opposite effect of what you're hoping for!
Keep your appointments to get the same results that millions of people currently enjoy from chiropractic care.
Read the study on birth control
On October 11, 2000, the Journal of the American Medical Association published an article reporting on a study related to the use of oral contraceptives by women.
The researchers concluded that, «The results suggest that women who have ever used oral contraceptives and who also have a first-degree relative with breast cancer may be at particularly high risk for breast cancer.»
The authors« conclusions also noted: »Among sisters and daughters of women with breast cancer, those who used the birth control pill were three times more likely to develop the disease than those who did not.”
