Mataro Postures
When standing Maintain healthy postural habits. Frequent good posture is the best way to prevent spinal problems. Observe your silhouette and try to correct your posture. Rest one of your feet up. This will prevent you from bending your spine too much. You should not lean forward without bending your knees first.
When seated Sit up straight. Do not slump forward. Do not cross your legs when sitting, although you can cross your feet at the ankles. If you sit for long hours, use an ergonomic chair with lumbar support. If your feet do not reach the floor when sitting, use a footrest.
When leaning, Keep your neck and spine as aligned as possible. Beware of drafts Do not remain seated with your back to the radiator or air conditioner.
When you sleep or you are lying down Sleep on your back with your knees resting on a pillow. Do not sleep on your stomach, as this position increases your lumbar curve and damages your neck and shoulders. You can also sleep on your side with your knees bent, with a pillow between them. For your head, do not use pillows that are too high. This could damage your neck, shoulders and arms.
To stand up or sit up while lying down, do not stand up from the waist up. Bend your knees first, turn to one side and help yourself with your hands to stand up.
When climbing the stairs Step with the whole foot on the steps, not just the arch. When carrying objects Carry heavy objects close to your body. Moving them away increases the workload on your spine. Do not reach or lift objects higher than your head.
Walk Walk briskly for at least half an hour a day. This exercise will help you eliminate fluids and keep you fit.
When bending down When bending, bend your knees. Never bend your spine forward. Use your leg muscles to lift the weight, keeping your spine straight.
When driving To get into the car, first sit on the seat, then put your legs into the vehicle. To get out, do it the other way around. Sit with your back against the backrest, with an opening of 110º between the seat and the backrest.
Use a cushion or a lumbar support. Marc Bony,DC If you want to consult our center call 93 758 63 14 or Chiropractic first
