Make the Most of Your Chiropractic Care

Why Do Some People Get Sick?

All children learn in school that Thomas Edison invented the light bulb. However, few know who discovered Chiropractic. But the most fascinating part is why Chiropractic was discovered.

If we go back more than a hundred years, to a time when “patent medicines” were flourishing. These were often sold as healing methods whose active ingredients were generally alcohol, cocaine, arsenic, and many other dangerous substances.

Meanwhile, a healer (one who heals with their hands), experimenter, and free thinker named Daniel David Palmer in Davenport, Iowa asked a simple question: “I want to know why two people who eat at the same table and work in the same store, one is sick but the other is not. Why?

What difference was there between the two people that made one have pneumonia, a cold, typhoid fever, or rheumatism, while their counterpart, in a similar situation, avoided those conditions? Why?” At a time when germs were blamed for almost all diseases, that way of thinking was very innovative in health matters. Germs alone could not be the cause of diseases; otherwise, everyone would be sick.

Chiropractic came into existence shortly thereafter. DD Palmer discovered that it is smarter to look at the person with the disease, rather than the disease within the person. A revolutionary thought for those times! – and it still remains revolutionary!

The Causes of Subluxations

Sometimes, a bad day at the office is all it takes to interfere with your nervous system.

Your spine not only helps you stand, but it also allows you to move while vital nerve communications between your brain and body take place. The spinal cord and nerve roots are the most vulnerable part of your nervous system. That’s why we are so interested in your spine. If the spine is not functioning properly, the nervous system probably isn’t either, even if you feel very well and have no outwardly visible symptoms!

There are many causes of vertebral subluxations, which can be divided into three main categories. Here are some of the most common causes that our patients have mentioned:

Physical

Being born
Learning to walk
Raking leaves
Carrying dirt
Getting into your car
Sitting on your wallet in your back pocket
Inadequate hotel beds
Contact sports
High-heeled shoes
Sweeping the garage or house

Car accidents
A bad pillow

Mental

Receiving bad news
Deadlines
Stress
Feeling pressured
Job interview
Frustration
Holidays
Paying bills
Being late
Your mother-in-law
Funerals
A speeding ticket

Or any other situation that causes you stress

Chemical

Drugs
Muscle relaxants
Alcohol
Pain pills
Cigarette smoke
Paint fumes or other chemicals
Sleeping pills
Preservatives
Allergic reactions
Too much coffee
Anesthesia

One or several of these factors can be a cause of the headaches and neck pains you have been suffering from for months! A traffic accident or sports injuries are the obvious causes of subluxations, but sometimes all it takes is a bad day at work.

Pain Is Not the Problem

Many people begin chiropractic care due to pain or discomfort.

Pain can be distracting, debilitating, irritating, or annoying.

Pain can be chronic, acute, intense, or intermittent.

Pain can be sharp or dull and can be localized or generalized.

Pain can be a pain, but pain is not the problem!

Pain is a symptom, a signal, a sign, an indicator, a warning.

Pain is not a problem but a notice, like a traffic light or your alarm clock shaking you to wake up.

Although the meaning we attribute to pain is that of a problem. When we interview patients in the office who have pain, our first thought is that they must have exceeded a physical, chemical, or emotional limit to which they can no longer adapt.

Therefore, we will not be interested in the pain, but rather in what the underlying cause of the pain was: whether it just happened, whether it has been present for a long time, under what circumstances it appeared.

Additionally, what change(s) should you start to make to avoid this in the future? Do you know anyone who thinks pain is a problem? Please send them to our office. Because for us, pain is never a problem!

 Keep Your Appointment

Keep your appointments for the best results in the shortest time possible.

Your care plan is designed to produce the best results in the shortest time possible.

A Middle Path

The most important part of your care is your chiropractic adjustments. Each visit builds on the previous ones, so missing a visit can hinder the results you expect.

If you do not get adjusted regularly, you will not have enough “momentum” to reduce negative patterns in the spine. Your visit schedule is personalized and tailored to your particular health situation. Our desire is to produce the most effective healing effect. Neither too often nor too far apart.

Throwing in the Towel

It is especially important to maintain consistency as you begin to feel better. You may be tempted to throw in the towel and abandon your care before it is recommended; know that interrupting your care at the moment when the most significant changes are occurring will cause an effect opposite to what you expect!

Keep your appointments to achieve the same results that millions of people currently enjoy from chiropractic care.

Consult Study on Contraceptives

On October 11, 2000, in the Journal of the American Medical Association, an article reported on a study related to the use of oral contraceptives for women.

The researchers concluded that, “The results suggest that women who have ever used oral contraceptives and who also have a first-degree relative with breast cancer may be at particularly high risk for breast cancer.”

The authors further added: “Among sisters and daughters of women with breast cancer, pill users were three times more likely to develop the disease than non-users.”
