Heart disease and chiropractic care

There is a significant relationship between Vertebral Subluxation and heart function!
Years ago, a cardiologist and his wife came to my office as new patients. We conducted an examination and scheduled them to discuss the results. After explaining the history of Chiropractic, I shared the test results and presented my recommendations for care. The cardiologist understood and clearly saw his need for Chiropractic. However, he commented that since his wife had no degeneration in her discs, she would not have nerve interference, and therefore would not need this type of care.
At that moment, I asked him a question, “Doctor… do you know what mechanoreceptors are and what dysafferentation means?”
Understanding subluxation and having certainty in their care allows us to help them better. If it were all about a hard bone pinching a soft nerve, the cardiologist would have been convinced that there was no need for care. I stood face to face with that man and told him the truth as I understood it.
It made quite a bit of sense to him… both began care the next day!
First, we need to recognize the importance of heart disease in our culture:
- About 600,000 people die in the United States from heart disease each year. 1 in every 4 deaths.
- Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women.
- Coronary heart disease alone costs the United States $108.9 billion each year.
$108.9 BILLION per year! Can you imagine how much good could be done with just a quarter of that amount? Since 1984, more women than men have died from heart disease each year. Heart disease is now the number 1 cause of death for women, causing more deaths than all cancers combined. However, only 56 percent of American women realize that heart disease is the greatest threat to their health.
These figures are shocking! It is essential to know that the spine plays an integral role in allowing full function of the heart and vascular system.
No doctor can directly influence heart function more than a Chiropractor.
A vertebral subluxation alters the chemistry of the blood through the hypothalamus. When a man or woman is subluxated, there is a greater release of endorphins and norepinephrine, stress hormones.
These stress hormones, called catecholamines, are released as a result of the “fight or flight” response. This response is a direct result of increased and prolonged sympathetic nervous system tone.
IT IS A WELL-KNOWN FACT THAT INCREASED SYMPATHETIC TONE IS A MAJOR CAUSE OF CARDIOVASCULAR EVENTS AND DISEASES!
Chiropractic adjustments reduce sympathetic tone by influencing the nervous system through the hypothalamus! (heart disease and chiropractic) That is why studies like the 2007 blood pressure study achieved incredible results in blood pressure through adjustments in the upper cervical region.
The evidence is clear. The science is real. The missing element is knowledge! It is time to bring knowledge and solutions to one of the most dangerous threats to heart disease… vertebral subluxation and its relation to heart disease and chiropractic
