Reverse Diabetes

If you have never heard that diabetes can be reversed naturally, you have certainly been busy with other things! In the last 5 years, more and more information has reached the public about how to eliminate type 2 diabetes.

Many people have done exactly what the books on this subject say, and every alternative medicine doctor who works with diabetes has successfully treated it for the same period of time. Diabetes is no longer a great mystery – and now there are guides on what to do to take control of your blood sugar.

Here are four guidelines used by doctors who are having good results in reversing type 2 diabetes:

1 Visit a Chiropractor

2 Eat a low glycemic index diet.

Carbohydrates are not easily metabolized when you have diabetes. This does not mean you should follow a carbohydrate-free diet, but you should eat low glycemic index carbohydrates. The glycemic index is a scale that measures how long it takes for foods to release sugar into the blood. The higher the food is on the scale, the more it contributes to raising blood sugar levels and diabetes. Foods that are at the lower end of the scale include all green vegetables, turnips, cabbage or collard greens, broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy, tomatoes, onions, leeks, yams, bell peppers, chili peppers, mint leaves, parsley, cilantro, and celery. You can eat as much as you want of these vegetables. Low glycemic index fruits include apples, oranges, cherries, grapefruits, lemons, limes, and berries. Eat these in normal portions to regulate blood sugar.

3 Take blood-regulating herbs

Herbs work well to lower high blood sugar levels. The best ones are bitter melon, cinnamon, gymnema sylvestre, stevia, cat’s claw, fenugreek, prickly pear, cactus leaf, and ginseng. The dosage of these herbs depends on each person’s health, although here is the normal prescription of amounts (you can increase or decrease) Bitter melon – 3 to 6 tablespoons of juice Cinnamon – 1 capsule (300 mg) twice a day Gymnema sylvestre – 200-250 mg twice a day Stevia – 1 leaf three times a day Cat’s claw – 500 mg three times a day Fenugreek – 5 – 30 grams/meal Prickly pear in nectar – 1 tablespoon a day (you can make it at home) Cactus leaf – ½ cup of the pulp of the cactus leaf Ginseng – 1 to 3 grams/day While using these herbs, it is important to take regular blood sugar measurements. Your blood sugar levels may drop by 30 mg/deciliter after the first week of taking these herbs. If you are on medical treatment to reverse diabetes, then your doctor will need to lower your dosage. You definitely need to schedule an appointment with your doctor to see if the dosage should be changed in the first month.

4 Exercise

Exercising is essential to reverse diabetes. Study after study has shown that walking for 30 minutes a day can be extremely helpful in lowering blood sugar levels. Decide what type of exercise works best for your lifestyle. Is it biking, walking, or swimming? Can you add weight training to your gym plan three times a week?

5 Get a visit with a nutritionist

By consulting a clinical nutritionist, you can request tests that will determine the status of your vitamin and mineral nutrients. Especially important are: vitamin D, magnesium, B vitamins, chromium, zinc and vanadium; however, all of these work together with all the other vitamins and minerals, so make sure to check how many more nutrients the better. For example, a hair analysis will test for the accumulation of heavy metals in your body as well as the status of your minerals. Vitamin testing can be done through blood and urine tests. Some of these tests may not be within your budget, but don’t you deserve it?

These are the four cornerstones of what you need to do to start reversing your diabetes. Know that the process will take time. Three months of lowering blood sugar levels to a stable range of 120 mg/dl compared to 160-180 mg/dl is great progress, but you must continue on the path until your blood sugar levels reach 90 mg/dl. Only then will you be in ‘normality.’
