Personal Hygiene Recipes
The next time you go to the store, take a moment to stop in the aisle of toothpaste, shampoo, and body gels. Read the labels.
On the label, you will see chemicals that have a bad reputation for a long list of crimes that have been committed against humanity. Headaches, cancer, skin problems, aging, and other health issues are among those lists.
The only solution is to prepare your own toothpaste, shampoo, soap, and shower gel, and it is much easier than you think.
Homemade Toothpaste
Why not make a toothpaste that will strengthen your gums and reduce the bacteria in your mouth? You can easily do it with this recipe:
Ingredients
3 tablespoons of food-grade diatomaceous earth
8 capsules of 500mg “00” of cat’s claw herbs (Uncaria Tomentosa)
1 teaspoon of licorice root powder
1 tablespoon of alfalfa powder
1 teaspoon of stevia leaf powder
Instructions
1. Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl.
2. Transfer the mixed toothpaste powder to an empty yogurt cup.
3. When it’s time to brush your teeth, dip your wet toothbrush into the toothpaste powder and take about half a teaspoon of herbs.
4. Brush your teeth, gums, and tongue with the herbs. Rinse thoroughly, and your teeth will feel exceptionally clean for hours.
Each of these ingredients has antimicrobial properties to its name. Years ago, licorice sticks were chewed to clean teeth and the mouth of bacteria. Stevia is a sweet herb but has the ability to inhibit the streptococcus bacteria that causes dental cavities. And diatomaceous earth (do not buy the pool variety) whitens teeth while providing silica to the gums.
Homemade Shampoo
Ingredients
225g of Liquid Castile Soap
57g of Coconut Milk (canned or it can be the mild version)
16 organic drops of non-synthetic essential oil
Instructions
1. In a blender, mix the liquid castile soap with the coconut milk for no more than 10 seconds.
2. Then, add the essential oils. Choose the ones you like the most. At first, select only two different essential oils to mix into your shampoo. Once you have more practice, add up to six different essential oils to your new shampoo.
3. Stir the ingredients with a spoon and pour it into a bath bottle.
The essential oils in the recipe have antimicrobial properties, and the shampoo will keep well for at least a month.
Homemade Shower Gel
Ingredients
¼ cup of fresh unfiltered honey
8 drops of Jojoba oil
¼ cup of olive oil
225g of liquid castile soap
16 drops of pure organic essential oil (geranium, sandalwood, lavender, chamomile, sweet orange, rose, or ylang ylang)
Instructions
1. In a blender, add the liquid castile soap, olive oil, and honey. Blend until completely mixed.
2. Mix it with the jojoba oil and the essential oils you have chosen. You can do this with these ingredients, and in the coming months, try different combinations. Write down your recipes so you can remember which ones worked well for the next time you make another batch.
3. Blend the ingredients for no more than 10 seconds.
4. Pour it into a bottle that you will use in the shower and that has a cap outlet.
Homemade Soap
The easiest way to start making your own soap is to take the leftover pieces of soap that you already have and melt them in a double boiler specifically for this purpose. Here is your recipe:
Ingredients
450g or more of soap scraps
One teaspoon of olive oil or coconut oil
8 drops of essential oils
A double boiler
Soap molds
Instructions
1. In the double boiler, add the soap scraps and heat them on low until they melt.
2. Then put on your experimenting hat and add a teaspoon of olive oil or coconut oil to the soap.
3. Now you need to add the scent. Add 8 drops of organic non-synthetic essential oil that relaxes the skin and gives a scent of lavender, chamomile, rose, or lemon. You may want to mix them all – and why not? It’s your soap!
4. When all the soap scraps have melted and your house smells divine, pour the soap into lightly oiled soap molds to harden.
5. In a day, check if the hardening process has started. Remove them from the mold and let them harden at room temperature for at least a week before using them.
