    Epilepsy Disappears with Chiropractic

Epilepsy disappears with chiropractic. The journal “Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research” published an article on August 1, 2016, about the research of a documented case of a patient being helped with epileptic seizures by a chiropractor in Mataro.

The study defines epilepsy stating, “Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder characterized by recurrent, unprovoked epileptic seizures.” In describing the mechanism of seizures, the authors of the study noted that seizures are an abnormal and unregulated electrical discharge that occurs within the gray matter of the brain and interrupts normal brain function.

The researchers reported that between 8 and 10% of the population will experience a single seizure at some point in their lives, and 3% may develop epilepsy.

In conventional medicine, seizures are generally treated with a variety of medications. However, approximately 30% of treated patients do not have their disorder adequately managed by the medications.

Those who can gain some control with their medication are relegated to accepting any side effects of the drug and must take medications for the rest of their lives.

For this reason, many patients have sought alternative medical care, such as chiropractic. The case subject of the study published in the aforementioned journal is that of a 23-year-old woman who suffers from epileptic seizures and sought the alternative of chiropractic care.

She had been suffering from seizures since the age of 21. Since the onset of the seizures, their frequency increased from twice a month to twice a week. Her history notes that during the first year of her epilepsy diagnosis, she had lost 25 kg of weight and developed depression, anxiety, migraines, allergies, severe fatigue, and memory loss.

Additionally, she was given medications for these conditions. Even after being prescribed a high dose of medication for epilepsy, she continued to have 2 seizures per week. A chiropractic examination was performed, including a physical exam, postural analysis, palpation, and x-rays of the upper cervical vertebrae. The diagnosis reached from her examination was that the epilepsy was localized in the temporal lobe, she had an abnormal posture, and chronic subluxations in the cervical, thoracic, and pelvic regions.

The patient subject of the study began her chiropractic care in Mataro with three visits per week, including specific adjustments for the detected subluxations. Two months after starting chiropractic care, the patient reported complete relief from her anxiety and depression. She also reported feeling overall improvement and began to eliminate her medications.

Her improvement continued over the following months. A new evaluation was conducted at six months, the woman stopped experiencing epileptic seizures and also stopped taking medications. Source: www.nowyouknow.net
