Chiropractic Care Stages
La quiropráctica es la primera medicina natural más utilizada a nivel mundial
Chiropractic care consists of three distinct stages of treatment:
- Relief care,
- corrective care,
- maintenance care.
Relief Chiropractic Care
Provides initial and temporary relief from your symptoms or pain. This generally occurs when inflammation decreases and joint function is restored through a spinal adjustment. Ice or heat may also be incorporated during this phase of care to avoid interfering with the nervous system with pain relievers. Emergency care may be temporary if the underlying cause is not addressed. In many cases, there is trauma in the soft tissue that requires healing and strengthening. Defective muscle patterns consisting of weak or overly tight muscles must also be addressed for lasting results. These conditions are often due to poor posture, repetitive use, or micro-trauma.
Corrective Chiropractic Care
Takes more time because it addresses the trauma and defective muscle patterns described above. Some considerations in the duration of this treatment include the condition and integrity of the spine, the age and physical condition of the patient, the severity of the injury, and the duration of the problem. Corrective care often includes rehabilitation exercises and soft tissue therapies in addition to spinal adjustments.
Maintenance Chiropractic Care
Is the final stage that ensures the integrity of the spine is maintained and supported. Because daily activities exert biomechanical stress on our bodies, we must continue to monitor the health and condition of your spine through periodic evaluations. Regular chiropractic adjustments will help ensure that you are living at your optimal level of health and function.
The benefits of the maintenance stage are that minor misalignments can be detected before they become symptomatic or well-established. Maintenance chiropractic care allows for improved posture, enhanced function, better athletic performance, reduced injuries, and an overall enjoyable pain-free lifestyle. This type of preventive or wellness care can also save time and money by preventing minor issues from escalating.
