What Does the Color of Your Urine Reveal About Your Health?

De qué color debería ser la orina

The color of urine can be a key indicator of your overall health. At the Marc Bony Chiropractic Center in Mataró, we help you understand what each shade means so you can take better care of your well-being.

What color should urine be

Dark yellow urine is often a sign that you are not drinking enough water.

The normal color of urine is light yellow or pale yellow.

But what does it mean if your urine is a different color? There are many reasons for changes in the color of your urine

-illnesses,

certain foods,

supplements,

dehydration

-all can cause changes in urine color.

Some of the reasons for changes in urine color are as follows:

Red Urine – It may be a sign of the presence of blood in the urine (requires further study as it can be one of many causes), intake of certain foods, berries, food colorings, medications, or a urinary tract infection.

Green Urine – Can occur from eating asparagus or other foods or from artificial colorings in medications or foods.

Orange Urine – Can occur from eating rhubarb, laxatives with Senna, bile in the urine, or dehydration.

Cloudy Urine – Can occur from a bladder infection, certain kidney diseases, different types of foods or drinks, normal vaginal secretions or abnormal vaginal discharge, kidney stones, or prostatitis.

Blue Urine – Is usually the result of artificial colorings in foods or medications.

Purple Urine – Indicates fluid of foreign or extraterrestrial origin. (Just kidding!).

Clear Urine – Often the result of hydration and good health. When your urine is a different color, and you are concerned that it is not related to the intake of any particular food or medication that is artificially colored, you should seek advice from a healthcare professional to rule out any serious condition or illness that may require further treatment.

In the meantime, make sure to drink plenty of water (2 liters). Water “that cleans the system” of impurities and keeps your “engine” running. Regular visits to the chiropractor also keep your immune system functioning at its maximum capacity to help you combat many of the causes of illness. Marc Bony, DC
