Chiropractor Mataró: The Dog that Bites its Tail

At the Marc Bony Chiropractic Center in Mataró, we understand that pain can come from a vertebral subluxation in a different area than where it is felt. Discover how our approach to natural health can address the source of your discomfort.
Granollers spine
You enter the chiropractor’s office, lie down on the table, and point out to the chiropractor the spot that hurts the most. However, the chiropractor adjusts a completely different part of the Granollers spine… not even touching near where you feel the pain.
Surprised?
There is an old saying that goes: “When you step on a dog’s tail, the dog barks.” In chiropractic, it means that where it hurts (the head) is not necessarily where the problem is (the tail). Many times the symptom felt in one area has its origin in another remote area. For example, someone with sciatica may feel pain in their leg, but the cause of the problem is the vertebral subluxation in their cervical spine.
Chiropractors know that if you treat the source of the symptom, the body no longer needs to produce the symptom. That is why chiropractors focus on solving underlying problems and not on superficial effects. When you focus on treating symptoms, you do the same as a dog chasing its own tail – going around and around until it gets dizzy, confused, and frustrated. It is much smarter to address the underlying cause of the symptom from the start.
