It's hard to say\u2014and even harder to spell\u2014but spondylolisthesis (patro-dih-low-lis-te-sis) is a spinal condition that occurs when one vertebra slips over another. Sometimes, a defect in the bone itself, called spondylolysis, causes the condition. This condition usually occurs in the lumbar region of the spine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Symptoms<\/h3>\n

Symptoms include pain in the lower back, legs, or thighs; muscle spasms; and stiffness in the hamstrings. Nerve damage may also occur. The condition may be present at birth or develop in late childhood or adulthood.
