What is an allergy?<\/h2>\n

An allergy occurs when the immune system reacts to a substance that is normally harmless to many people.<\/p>\n

These substances are called allergens<\/strong> and may include, among others:<\/p>\n

  • dust mites;<\/li>\n
  • certain foods;<\/li>\n
  • medications;<\/li>\n
  • animals;<\/li>\n
  • molds;<\/li>\n
  • insect bites.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Many allergic reactions involve antibodies called IgE and substances such as histamine.<\/p>\n

    The release of these mediators can cause various symptoms, depending on the individual and the type of allergy.<\/p>\n

    Common symptoms may include sneezing, a runny or stuffy nose, itching, watery eyes, hives, or swelling.<\/p>\n

    Allergies should be evaluated and diagnosed by the appropriate healthcare professionals.<\/p>\n

    Are all allergic reactions the same?<\/h2>\n

    No.<\/p>\n

    At our center We do not use chiropractic adjustments as a treatment for allergies, asthma, allergic rhinitis, or other conditions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    A person who comes to our clinic may do so to take care of their spine, mobility, and overall well-being, regardless of whether or not they have an allergy.<\/p>\n

    That is why, during the initial evaluation, we take into account each person\u2019s personal history and circumstances before making any recommendations for chiropractic care.<\/p>\n

    What happens during a chiropractic evaluation?<\/h2>\n

    We also do not recommend stopping any medications, antihistamines, inhalers, immunotherapy, or other treatments prescribed by a healthcare professional as a result of beginning chiropractic care.<\/p>\n

    When a person has a diagnosed allergy, they should continue to follow up with their healthcare providers as directed.<\/p>\n
