Study Summary Objective:

To describe the history, treatment, and positive outcome of chiropractic care in a child with constipation.

Clinical Features:

A 3-week-old child brought to the office by his mother with complaints of constipation since birth. Intervention and results.

The patient received chiropractic adjustments to address subluxations in the spine at the atlas, thoracic, and sacral levels. (Infant Constipation Mataró)

The mother reported a dramatic and immediate improvement in the patient’s bowel function after the first chiropractic adjustment.

Subsequently, consistent normal bowel function was reported after each meal.

Conclusion:

This case suggests that further research is needed to better understand whether chiropractic care may be beneficial for children suffering from constipation.
